We are outraged to learn that a polar bear was shot and killed this weekend after attacking a cruise ship guard at Sjuøyane. German cruise ship MS Bremen, the Hapag Lloyd Cruises company, told that the bear was shot “in an act of self-defense”. Was this really necessary? Even though bear attacks might seam vicious they are simply the only defense they have. The scientific study suggests that polar bears lack a viable food sources due to Arctic ice melting. They are forced to come closer to humans in hope to find food and survive. It is reasonable to expect to come across a polar bear on their territory. These guards should have tranquilizers instead of deadly weapons.
After all it’s us that invade and destroy their home.
