Rosie is a female, 2 year old, 70 lb, Pointer X. She is smart and has low-medium energy. She can take a bit to warm up to new people. She is very much like her working dog breed. Even after getting to know someone, she will be content to be near her people but does not need or want a lot of physical affection. While she is mellow she will get bursts of goofy, silly energy, too but quickly settles back to her calm, loungy self. We say she is an old young dog. She is dog social, currently living with a smaller dog but would probably do best with a medium to large dog or even as an only dog. She has not been cat tested. She is great with kids – has experience with age 9 and above. She loves casual hiking, splashing in water, car rides, casual walks but may not be a great running partner. She has excellent leash skills. She is food motivated. She loves fresh, green grass and will roll around on it and stretch her body out to feel the cool grass on her belly.
She will need a family with a high dog IQ that is able to set very clear boundaries in the home. If a person is not the clear leader, she will take on that role. She responds quickly and easily when boundaries are set. She will thrive using a kennel in the home. Someone that has experience with pointer/cattle dog/working type breeds would be great.
