After two years without community activities, we finally had the opportunity to gather our volunteers, adopters, fosters, and supporters and hosted our first post-pandemic Pack Walk at Elysian Park.
Pack Walks are amazing events that benefit our four-legged best friends and humans equally. The Dog Pack Walking method is recommended by canine experts for good reason; organized, structured dog walks with two or more canine companions cater to dogs’ wild ancestor, the wolf, who traveled in packs for hundreds of miles. It’s no surprise that dogs instinctively adapt to walking together!
Angela, from Deserving Dogs, was our alpha trainer host, and she made sure that we built a positive foundation for the dogs’ interactions in order to have a successful Pack Walk. Close to thirty people and their rescue dogs enjoyed a leisurely hike, learning both from Angela and from each other, and getting to know more members of the ISWMP family. This type of Pack Walk offers many benefits, such as the opportunity for dogs to fulfill their natural instincts to travel in a pack, building a bond with other members of the pack in a safe environment, and providing extra exercise and mental stimulation for both dogs and humans. On top of all of this, Pack Walks are great for connecting with like-minded people, spending quality time in nature, and supporting our rescue mission.
Everyone who participated in this event could not say enough about how much they enjoyed it. We listened and have decided to host ISWMP Pack Walks every second Sunday of the month! Keep an eye out for updates on location and be ready to experience a monthly boost of serotonin only our rescue pups can provide.
Our next Pack Walk is happening on December 11, at 11 am at Tree People.
The address is Coldwater Canyon Park, 12601 Mulholland Dr, Beverly Hills.
