When Wilbur first came to us, he was extremely underweight and had clearly been through a lot for such a young puppy. Now that he’s safe, healthy, and finally getting the care he deserves, his personality has completely blossomed.

He loves flirt pole time, roughhousing with other playful dogs, shredding cardboard boxes, toys, treats, and anything that keeps his busy puppy brain engaged. He’s currently being fostered around a cat and has been coexisting well. He’s also very food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. Nail trims and handling are easy when treats are involved.

On leash, he’s easy to handle overall—he may pull a little at times, but it’s mostly just excitement to be out exploring. He will chase cats if they run but at the same time, keeps sniffing a cat who scratches him in the nose every time! Tucker thinks he’s a lap dog but he is really very large, very strong and very tall!

He has an amazing sense of smell and can spot out animals on a walk before the humans can.

Tucker is ready to find a family that can dedicate the time and energy that he needs. He’s super duper sweet and let’s the children do whatever they want to him, he just loves the attention.

On walks, he’s incredibly easy to handle—he takes things nice and slow, stopping to sniff and take in the world at his own pace. While Winky does well passing other dogs on walks and is generally unbothered by them outside, he will probably do best as the only dog in the household.
